A Strategy You Can Try Right Now: 
Quiet Your Mind

One of my first go-to strategies when things start to feel a little off is to “quiet my mind.” This simply means to quiet the noise in your head by focusing on something else.


Meditation is a wonderful way to do this, but you don’t always have the time to commit to a full meditation. So instead, I focus on simply quieting my mind by focusing on a mantra or a steady sound in the room.


For example, imagine you’re at the grocery store, running late, and the line is moving slowly. Frustration starts to build, and anxiety begins to creep in.
Before those feelings take over, pause and say to yourself, slowly, “Stop. Quiet your mind. Quiet your mind. Quiet your mind.” Repeat this as many times as you need until you feel a shift in your emotions. It may seem simple, but it’s surprisingly effective at calming your mind and shifting your emotions in the moment.
